June 2 – 11, 2017: São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Immersion.

Deadline for Signing up: February 2, 2017

bz16_05511Soccer, Carnival, and the Amazon Rainforest: these are three things people usually associate with Brazil. Despite being the host of the latest Olympics, the daily reality for many is harsh. Many face unemployment or underemployment, violence, precarious housing, and poor public health and education services in the current economic and political turmoil. Though a country of great wealth and resources, Brazil has one of the worst income distributions in the world.

Maryknoll Lay Missioners working in Brazil will be our hosts. They have designed a unique experience to immerse trip participants in Brazilian life, which always includes aspects of the vibrant culture (music, food and spirituality) and also experiences of daily life of impoverished people and their efforts to promote and protect their God-given human dignity.
