Ministry: Works with children and within the prisons
Claire spent a year as a member of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, working with asylum seekers in Houston, TX. She was a member of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Parish while living in Houston, and participated in service outreach programs through the church. She travelled to El Salvador and the Dominican Republic on immersion trips while a student at Spring Hill College. She taught ESL for four years through Spring Hill’s work study program. She volunteered at Little Sisters of the Poor in Mobile and the Missionaries of Charity in Bologna, Italy and Houston.
Claire ministers within the prisons on pastoral teams helping facilitate faith sharing and prayer services. She also teaches art activities within a school for children in vulnerable living situations and for children at the Santa Cruz parish while their parents are in Portuguese class.
Claire says, “I have come to understand that MKLM stands for a humility that aims to cross borders, enter hearts and transform the world with hope. This is something I will strive for and I am strongly invested in.”
