Event: Dr. Susan Nagele, Maryknoll Lay Missioner, will give a presentation on her 34 years of medical mission in East Africa (Tanzania, South Sudan, Kenya), where she served as a family physician to those marginalized in society and our global community. Her medical services were often provided in war zones, while facing challenges of limited resources.
Dr. Nagele has received numerous accolades for her outstanding achievements, including the 2009 American Academy of Family Physicians Humanitarian Award, USA, and the 2012 American Medical Association’s (AMA) Medal of Valor for her life-long work (the first woman to ever receive it).
She will be joined by two other Maryknoll Lay Missioners – Karen Bortvedt (Cambodia 2013-2017), and Sam Stanton (Chile, U.S. 1985-2018).
