Carolyn comes to MKLM from Beaverton, OR , where she was a parishioner at St. Cecilia Parish. She graduated from Marylhurst University with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with majors in Communications and Religious Studies and holds Certificates in Youth Ministry and Religious Studies. Prior to joining MKLM she was involved with Catholic Relief Services, Medical Teams International and Los Embajadores Mexico Mission Immersion.
Carolyn is currently in Sao Paulo, Brazil where she is part of Pastoral Carceraria which is a ministry of the Archdiocese of So Paulo that works within prisons to provide direct services to the prisoners and advocates for human rights within the structures of the prisons of Brazil. She works in two prisons assisting in health courses for women. She also works in a parish health education and fellowship program for women. The Centro de Juventude Paulus is also part of her ministry and is a center that works with adolescents who live on the outskirts of Sao Paulo. The Center provides an educational opportunity to youths that they may not find in their schools such as language skills, music, computer physical education and theater.
