Charles has a BS in Pre-Medicine from the University of Notre Dame, a MA in Theology and Ph.D. in Philosophy from Catholic University, and a MS in Clinical Psychology from the Institute for the Psychological Sciences. He served as Director of Social Concerns at St. Francis Parish, and as an adjunct professor at both Catholic University and Georgetown. His volunteer experience includes teaching at St. Bonaventure’s Indian Reservation, Catholic Charities and helping at a shelter and hospice run by the Missionaries of Charity. Charles co-founded a non-profit organization called Health and Education for Haiti. He has been to Haiti eight times. He has been part of a zen sangha led by a Catholic sister.
“I also taught a class on contemporary spirituality at Catholic University where we studied a number of notable Catholic spiritual writers, one of which is Anthony DeMello, who is my favorite,” he says.
