Janet was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. She holds both a B.A. and M.A. from Michigan State; her undergraduate major was French with a Health Education minor and her graduate degree was in French Language and Literature. She served as parish secretary at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Joplin, MO and taught RCIA. After the tornado that devastated Joplin, Janet was involved with emergency and recovery services for those affected. She has also done mission trips to El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, and the Western Sahara region in Africa. She went to the Ukraine for a month on a peacemaking initiative. Her hobbies include reading, gardening, photography, sewing, and knitting, hiking and camping. Janet has three grown children and two grandchildren, with another grandchild on the way.
