NAME: Patricia M. Santos


Patty is joining Maryknoll with her husband Doug and their three children Ian (8), Abel (6), and Ben (4). Patty spent most of her childhood in Latin America in Colombia and Mexico. She returned to the U.S. to start high school in Southern California, where her siblings and parents still reside. After earning a BA degree in Sociology, with a concentration in Ethnic Studies from Notre Dame, she worked for the Diocese of Minnesota as a lay missioner in Venezuela. She served for two years, working in the city of San Felix with the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls, MN. Upon returning to the US, she worked as a Youth Minister at a Hispanic parish on the west side of St. Paul. After a semester of theological studies, she married and then began working for a Hispanic outreach program, helping families deal with issues of education and parenting. During the early years of starting a family she continued doing some part time outreach work in the Latino community, but eventually immersed herself in full time parenting. Patty has traveled extensively in Latin America and Europe and speaks several languages. In her free time, she enjoys soccer, theatre, gardening, hiking, swimming, latin dancing and music.
